Directions to the cemetery: From Naturita, go to intersection of CO 141 & 97.

Go East on CO 141 for about 3Ω miles.  Turn North on CO 90.

Go North and East about 8 miles to Pinon.  (Sec. 3, T46N, R14W, N.M.P.M.)

Mrs. Susan DEARE – Died 27 Dec 1897, aged 78 yrs, 9 mo, 10 d.,

the first burial in the Pinion Cemetery.  Born in Bath, England March 17, 1809.

Mrs. BARNES – No dates.  Was Postmistress at Pinion.

Ed WHITNEY – No dates.  Boiler blew up at Tumble Creek Sawmill in 1898.

Mr. RIEHL – No dates.  Was Harness maker.

 

Lester GIBBS – No dates.  A baby.

Maude ROWLY – No dates.  “Mother”.  On hill north of The Old Don Watson Place 1 mile East of 4 corners of Nucla

South Main Street.

English boy in Calamity Gulch, West of 4 Corners.

The Dolph BAIN’S babies’ graves.  Located north of Nucla on 25 Mesa Road, 1/2 mile off road in timber.  2 babies.

 

Graves on John H. URCH place.  Baby girl named Dora Darleen – No dates.  Also an unknown adult grave.

Mrs. LONSWAY – No dates.  Across the river bridge on highway, just after Calamity Gulch.

Mr. and Mrs. Alex HANNAH’S baby son –  1906.

Mr. and Mrs. George SPECK twin babies – No dates.

Mr. and Mrs. Bill STEELE’S baby – No dates.

 

The above graves on hill East of Highway between Nucla and Naturita on D Road.

Mr. CHRISTIAN – No dates.  Grave located in the Narrows below Uravan in Dolores River Canyon.

 

Sam Jim RICHARDS – No dates.  Buried on his range in Tabeguache Basin.

 

Mr. KELLY – No dates.  Was killed and buried on hill across from old house above the VCA Mill at Naturita

 

Notes:

*01  Minor DUNN was born William Minor Dunn 13 June 1877 in Weston, Wisconson, the son of Chester and Angie

(Heath) Dunn who moved to Pinion sometime before 1900.  Wm Minor Dunn died before 1900.
