There are several ways to support the Montrose Genealogy Center in its mission to promote interest in genealogical research, to share knowledge and resources, to locate and preserve records, and to assist in the expansion of genealogical materials in the Montrose area.
1. Cash donations to Fore-Kin Trails Genealogical Society. (Our corporate name)
Gifts of any size are appreciated, and we will keep your personal and financial information completely confidential. All donations are greatly appreciated and our Center staff will provide you with a letter of acknowledgement that you may use for tax purposes. All gifts are tax-deductible.
As a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization, Fore-Kin Trails Genealogical Society, which sponsors the Montrose Genealogy Center, relies heavily on private contributions and the generosity of numerous individuals. We do not receive city or county government funds.

We are looking for people willing to donate just a few hours of their time on an ongoing basis. Computer skills are helpful.
Volunteer opportunities at the Center may include: helping our patrons research their ancestors, creating indexes of printed materials, typing those indexes, sorting, processing, and filing materials such as newspaper and magazine articles.
4. Donate new or gently used genealogical materials
We will accept donations of genealogical books or materials, particularly those items related to Montrose County, the surrounding counties, and the state of Colorado.
If we cannot use the donated items in our library, we will sell them on the internet or donate them to other non-profit organizations. Any money raised by sales will fund our Montrose Genealogy Center.
